Counterpart Pictures is a filmmaker-first production company founded by Los Angeles-based producer Russell Sanzgiri. Working with a diverse roster of filmmakers, Counterpart focuses on producing creative short-form projects.

Sanzgiri has produced comedy projects with Jack Black’s production company, Electric Dynamite, as well as Netflix’s critically acclaimed MICHAEL BOLTON’S BIG SEXY VALENTINE’S DAY SPECIAL with SNL’s The Lonely Island and Comedy Bang! Bang! Productions, as well as the episodic series GUILTY PARTY: THE HISTORY OF LYING for Fullscreen. Prior to that Sanzgiri cut his teeth assisting Spike Jonze’s producing partner on short films such as I’M HERE, starring Andrew Garfield, WE WERE ONCE A FAIRYTALE, starring Kanye West, and the band Arcade Fire’s short film SCENES FROM THE SUBURBS.


Most recently, Sanzgiri served as an Executive Producer on the documentary feature film CHANGING THE GAME, which premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival and won the audience award for Best Documentary Feature this summer at Outfest. Sanzgiri is currently in post-production on AT&T Hello Lab’s Mentorship Program, creatively led by writer-producer Lena Waithe, and an upcoming horror short set to air on Hulu in October.
